Youth Volunteering in Aylesbury

Generate, a partnership between AYA and AVDC to develop a range of new intergenerational projects in Aylesbury Vale, got off to a brilliant start over February half term with the first project ‘Teaching wii to those older than me’.  This was a wii tournament organised by volunteers for older residents living in sheltered housing across Aylesbury Vale.  Each morning during February half term we took the wii sports game to a different place and spent a couple of hours playing the games with the older people there.  Volunteers helped to teach the older residents to use the games, ran competitions and chatted to participants.  We had a great time and some of the volunteers became TV and Radio stars as the project received coverage from BBC Oxford News and BBC Three Counties Radio.
