Taking Action in Our Community -

Youth Volunteering in Aylesbury

GENERATE—Wii Sports

We’ll be taking the Nintendo wii to two Information and Wellbeing fayres for Older People in March to demonstrate what we’ve been doing on the GENERATE project.  These will be taking place as follows:

· Thursday 11^th March, 10-30 – 2 at Brill Memorial Hall (lifts available from QPC)

· Tuesday 23^rd March, 10.30 – 2 at Haddenham Village Hall (lifts available from QPC)

If you’re around (please note these are school days!) and would like to help for all or part of the days (you don’t need to have done the GENERATE project before) please get in touch.

We are also looking for volunteers to demonstrate wii sports at a celebration event being run by the Healthy Living Centre on Saturday 27^th March, 11am -2pm.

TALKING NEWSPAPER

The Talking Newspaper enables blind and partially sighted people to keep up to date with local news, as we record articles from the Bucks Herald onto tape.  Volunteers can come to the office anytime between 10am and 6pm to record sections from the newspaper including the main articles, sport, letters, family announcements, obituaries etc.

Time slots will be every half hour between 10am and 6pm and you can do as many as you like!  Sessions can be done individually or as part of a group.  To make sure someone will be in the office to meet you please contact Philippa on 01296 421149 to let us know your preferred time slot.

VOLUNTEER SOCIAL

Who are best bowlers at AYA?  Will the carpet bowls experiences of the Generate volunteers give them the edge, or will the practice put in by the After School Club Volunteers pay off?  The mystery will be solved at our next volunteer social, organised by The Grove volunteers, on Thursday 25^th March, 4:30pm-5:30pm at Jardines Bowling.  Come on your own or as part of a team.  It will be a great chance for you to meet the volunteers from other projects and find out more about what they’ve been doing, or simply an opportunity for you to develop your bowling skills.  Let us know if you’re planning on attending so we can book (cost is about £5).
